Newcastle United sign Arsenal midfielder on loan
Newcastle United have completed the signing of Joe Willock on a short-term loan deal from Arsenal.
The 21-year-old has joined the Magpies after struggling to break into the Gunners' Premier League plans this season with only 234 minutes.
Willock is a box-to-box midfielder by trade and he was impressive during the Europa League group stage with three goals and three assists.
He has not been able to make a similar impact in the league and he has now moved to the Magpies on loan for the season.
The Tyneside outfit recently ended a nine-match league winless streak with a terrific 2-0 win over Everton away from home.
Willock should provide the Magpies with the added creativity from the central or attacking midfield positions.
Willock is highly rated by manager Mikel Arteta, but the move seems worthwhile, given his lack of playing time in recent weeks.
Emile Smith Rowe and loan signing Martin Odegaard are currently ahead of him in the pecking order for the number 10 role.
