Arsenal attempted to sign Barcelona defender
Arsenal reportedly failed with an attempt to sign Barcelona defender Junior Firpo during the recent transfer window.
The Gunners were eager to sign a new left-back on deadline day and they were heavily linked with Crystal Palace's Patrick van Aanholt.
However, they did not make any offer for the Netherlands international and it is now revealed that they were interested in Firpo instead.
According to RAC1, the north London side made an approach for the Spaniard, but the Blaugrana were unhappy with the proposal.
The Catalan giants were reportedly aiming to sign Marcos Alonso from Chelsea, had the 24-year-old managed to find a new club.
The Gunners recently saw their seven-match unbeaten league streak end with a disappointing 2-1 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
They ended the game with nine men after David Luiz and Bernd Leno were handed straight red cards for denying goalscoring opportunities.
Mikel Arteta's side are scheduled to face Aston Villa on the road in Saturday's early Premier League kick-off.
