Thomas Tuchel provides injury update on Thiago Silva

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has provided an injury update on Thiago Silva ahead of the Premier League clash against Liverpool on Thursday.

The Brazilian has been sidelined for the past month with a hamstring problem, but he was spotted in regular training yesterday.

In his pre-match press conference, Tuchel confirmed that the centre-back was in full training but did not complete the entire session.

He added that the club are cautious over his fitness and the Reds game will come too soon for the former Paris Saint-Germain star.

He told Chelseafc.com: "Thiago made his first training with the team but did not finish the last exercise, not because of any pain but just to be aware of taking a risk."

"I assume he will train today but he is not at 100 per cent so he will not join the squad for Liverpool."

In the absence of Silva, Andreas Christensen is expected to continue in the back three alongside Cesar Azpilicueta and Antonio Rudiger.

The Blues are unbeaten since Tuchel took charge at the helm in January and they have won four and drawn three of their seven league games.

They need at least a point tomorrow to move into the top four. Their record at Anfield has been poor with no league wins since 2014.
