Torreira sets demand for Arsenal comeback

Lucas Torreira is open to playing for Arsenal next season, provided he is given assurances of regular game time.

The Uruguayan fell out-of-favour under manager Mikel Arteta during the final months of the previous campaign.

As a result, he was loaned out to Atletico Madrid in the summer, but his time with the Spanish side has been one to forget.

He has played just over 600 minutes over the course of the season, and that has not done any good to his transfer value.

According to The Athletic, Torreira is said to welcome a return to the Gunners next term, but he would want guaranteed playing time.

This appears unlikely to happen with the presence of Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey while Arteta wants a new midfielder this summer.

It has been previously claimed that both Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi (on loan at Hertha Berlin) could be sold after their temporary stints.

The north London giants are aiming to command around £25m for each player as Arteta aims to rebuild the squad for next season.
