Liverpool agree deal to sign Bundesliga defender
Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate during the summer transfer window.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that the Reds had agreed to trigger the £32m release clause on Konate's contract, but Leipzig dismissed the story.
Reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that the deal has been finalised, and a formal announcement will be made shortly.
Konate has made nearly 100 appearances during his time with Leipzig, but he has had a tough couple of years due to multiple knee injuries.
He only recently made a comeback to the starting line-up, and the Reds will be hoping that he has overcome his injury concerns.
Manchester United and Chelsea were also interested in Konate, but they were beaten by the Reds, who have a good association with Leipzig.
Jurgen Klopp's side previously landed the signature of Naby Keita from the Bundesliga outfit. The move has not worked out for Keita so far.
