French club enter talks to sign Chelsea defender
Lyon have reportedly opened negotiations with Chelsea to sign defender Emerson Palmieri.
The Italy international has fallen down the pecking order, and he is currently the third-choice left wing-back.
Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is keen to reduce the squad numbers, and Emerson is one of those that could leave.
The 27-year-old has recently entered the final year of his contract, but the Blues have a 12-month extension clause.
They are prepared to offload him rather than renewing his deal. Lyon are keen to push through a transfer this month.
Aside from Emerson, Kurt Zouma could also head for the exit door before the transfer window closes on August 31.
He is currently the subject of widespread interest. West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are among the admirers.
The Hammers seem unlikely to make an approach after learning of his wage demands of more than £120,000-per-week.
Spurs appear the surprise favourites to sign him, but it is unclear whether the Blues would sell him to a fierce London rival.
