Chelsea confirm transfer deal for 23-year-old star
Chelsea have confirmed the transfer of Tammy Abraham to Roma on a permanent deal.
The England international was heavily tipped to leave the Blues after falling out-of-favour under Thomas Tuchel this year.
The 23-year-old was initially fancied to join West Ham United, but they were put off by the €40m price tag for his services.
Arsenal appeared the next in line to sign him, but they needed to offload players first before making an approach.
Amidst this, Roma have won the race to land his signature. They will pay the fee in multiple installments to the Blues.
The move has worked out ideally for the west London giants as they were hesitant to sell him to their cross-town rivals.
Chelsea have inserted a buy-back clause in Abraham's contract that will become active at the end of the 2022/23 season.
The fee has been set at €80m. It remains to be seen whether Abraham can make a big impact at Roma to tempt the Blues into re-signing him.
