Chelsea duo set for extended time on sidelines
Chelsea duo Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner could be out for an extended period of time following their respective injuries.
Lukaku twisted his ankle against Malmo yesterday. In the same game, Werner pulled his hamstring. He was grimacing in pain.
In his post-match press conference, Thomas Tuchel confirmed that the duo are likely to be out for a certain period of time.
A further round of examination will determine the exact timescale, but they are certain to miss the next few matches at least.
In their absence, Tuchel has hinted that Kai Havertz and Callum Hudson-Odoi could get more game time from the starting XI.
The duo linked up impressively in the second half against Malmo. They could line up alongside each other this weekend.
The Blues are presently top of the Premier League standings, but just one point separates them from second-placed Liverpool.
They have a winnable schedule with Norwich, Newcastle United and Burnley to face in the league before the next international break.
