Chelsea readying new deal for playmaker
Chelsea are planning to hand an improved contract to Mason Mount amid his excellent progress over the past two years.
The England international has been one of the most consistent performers for the Blues since his debut in 2019.
His current deal does not expire until June 2024, but ESPN claims that the hierarchy are ready to increase his wages.
He is currently on around £75,000-a-week, and the board are willing to double his salary as a reward for his efforts.
Mount started the current season in a slow fashion, but he recently bagged his maiden club hat-trick against Norwich City.
In the absence of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner due to injuries, he has a more influential role to play in the coming weeks.
He has been the Blues' best creative player over the past few seasons, and will be aiming to find more consistency going forward.
The Blues are currently top of the league standings after the 7-0 rout of Norwich, but they are just one point ahead of Liverpool.
