Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta could reintegrate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang into his first-team plans.

The Gabon international has been dropped for the past four matches after a second disciplinary breach this term.

He has also been stripped of captaincy. This has led to widespread speculation that he could leave next month.

However, according to ESPN, that may not be the case. Arteta is ready to sort out his differences with the marksman.

Aubameyang is expected to participate in the African Cup of Nations that is scheduled to start from January 9.

Arteta is likely to monitor the forward's attitude on his return before considering a recall to first-team action.

Aubameyang has struggled for form and consistency since signing a new long-term contract with the club last year.

His current deal expires in 18 months' time. He could be sold in the summer irrespective of what happens this season.

The Gunners are already lining up potential replacements. They have their sights on landing Fiorentina's Dusan Vlahovic.
