Tuchel hopeful over Rudiger extension

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has said that the club are still working behind the scenes to convince Antonio Rudiger to stay.

The German has been a key player under Thomas Tuchel over the past year, but he remains reluctant to pen a new contract.

He is eyeing a wage package of around £200,000-a-week, but the Blues are reluctant to come anywhere close to that figure.

The hierarchy are only willing to offer around £140,000-a-week. This has led to a contract stand-off that has extended for months.

The Blues are yet to make the breakthrough in negotiations, but Tuchel remains hopeful that the defender will commit his future to the club.

Rudiger is free to speak with foreign teams, having entered the final six months of his contract. He has plenty of offers to consider.

Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are among clubs interested. The latter could be favourites to sign him.

Niklas Sule has rejected a new deal beyond next summer. Rudiger could replace his compatriot, who has been linked with the Blues.
