Youri Tielemans is number 1 summer transfer target for Arsenal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and his technical director of football, Edu, have earmarked Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans as their number one transfer target once the summer window opens. Tielemans, who has had successful spells with Monaco and his boyhood club Anderlecht, could be allowed to leave the Foxes for a transfer fee in the region of £50 million.

The Gunners are on course to qualify for the Champions League with just a handful of Premier League games remaining, and Mikel Arteta is keen to bolster his squad with new names and Belgium international Tielemans is his preference.

Since his arrival at Leicester in 2019, Tielemans has gone on to play over 100 games and is considered one of the brightest young midfielders in England. Aged just 24, the 5 foot 9 prospect has plenty of his best years ahead of him and there will be no doubt that other clubs in England will express interest in signing the Sint-Pieters-Leeuw-born star, including bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal are set for a reshuffle in their midfield this summer, with uncertainty over the future of Lucas Torreira, meanwhile Mohamed Elneny's contract at the Emirates will expire on July 1st.
