Arsenal linked with shock move for Chelsea flop
Arsenal have been credited with a surprise interest in signing Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata this summer.
The Spain international has been with Juventus on loan for the past two seasons, but the Bianconeri are reluctant to sign him permanently.
They have the option of triggering a £25 million buy clause, but have no plans of paying more than £12.5m for his services.
Hence, Morata will return to Madrid this summer, but Sport claims that Arsenal could then make a move for his signature.
The north London giants are deemed to be interested in him since January, and they could be willing to meet the price tag.
The speculation may not go well with several Arsenal fans, considering Morata's past struggles in the Premier League.
Morata was a huge disappointment during his two seasons at Chelsea, bagging just 16 goals from 47 league matches.
He is unlikely to be an upgrade on outbound star Alexandre Lacazette, and Arsenal are definitely better off looking elsewhere.
