Nathan Ake deal to Chelsea called off
Nathan Ake deal to Chelsea called off
Centre-back Nathan Ake will be staying at Man City next season, despite the interest of Premier League rivals Chelsea. The former Bournemouth and current Dutch international defender, who has three years remaining on his City contract, was the subject of a £38 million offer from the Blues.
Ake had been expected to move to Chelsea alongside Raheem Sterling, who completed a deal to Stamford Bridge this week.
However, the move for Ake appears to have broken down at the final hurdle, as Chelsea have turned their attentions elsewhere and are looking at other transfer targets.
Ake is reportedly delighted that he can stay at the Etihad Stadium, as he hopes to fight for a place in the first-team next season. The 27-year-old is currently 3rd choice centre-back at the club, but has always intended to stay put at Pep Guardiola's side.
Chelsea appear to have turned their attentions to signing Paris St Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe, and are on the verge of wrapping up a deal for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly in a 55 million euro transfer deal.
