Timo Werner to seal Chelsea exit this week
Timo Werner will return to his former club RB Leipzig this week, after the German international agreed personal terms with the Bundesliga giants. Chelsea will have lost around 15 million euros on the player, as it appears Leipzig have agreed a fee of 32 million euros to sign the versatile forward.
Werner had struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League, scoring 10 goals in 56 games for the Blues and winning a Champions League winners medal in the process.
That is in stark contrast to his successful spell at Leipzig, where he had scored 78 goals in 128 games. For Germany, Werner is equally prolific, bagging 24 goals in 53 international appearances.
It appears though that Chelsea are willing to cut their losses, as the club looks to rebuild under new ownership and with a new look attack with Raheem Sterling leading the line alongside Mason Mount.
Last season Werner scored just 4 Premier League goals in 21 games, and desperately failed to live up to expectations of the Chelsea faithful.
It is understood that Leipzig have offered Werner a four year deal to return to Germany, and that a deal could be agreed as soon as Monday evening.
