Chelsea midfielder has received fresh contract offer

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has received a fresh contract offer from the club, according to his representative Joao Santos.

The Italian has been a mainstay for the Blues over the past four years, but there are doubts over his future as his contract expires in June next year.

His agent has now provided a positive update on the situation by confirming that there is a contract proposal on the table for his client to consider.

He was quoted as saying by Calciomercato: "Jorginho's contract expires on June 30, we have a renewal proposal and we give priority to Chelsea."

Chelsea have their sights on landing West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice next summer and there are already in contact with his agency.

Despite this, the Blues don't want to lose their key players in N'Golo Kante and Jorginho and have started renewal talks with both of them.

If the pair continue next season, their playing time could be reduced. Jorginho in particular may have to accept a regular bench role.
