Man Utd plan surprise swoop for Belgian midfielder

Amadou Onana to Man Utd?

Manchester United are considering a surprise move for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, according to Mirror.

The Red Devils have already invested more than £170m to purchase Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund.

They are likely to continue the spending spree in the coming weeks, and a new defensive midfielder is one of the targets.

Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat has been linked for many weeks, but reports claim that Erik ten Hag is also tracking Onana.

The Dutch tactician has been monitoring the Belgian from his time in the French top-flight and an approach could be made.

Everton purchased the young midfielder from Lille for £34m last summer and may not sell him for anything less than £45m.

This could be beyond the budget of United amid FFP concerns. A deal could depend on the departure of Scott McTominay.

McTominay has been touted to leave United for the past few days. West Ham United are said to be interested in the £40m star.
