Germany squad off to Mallorca


The German national side are off to sunny Mallorca to begin their preparations for this summer's showpiece being jointly hosted by neighbors Austria and Switzerland.

New coach, Joachim Low, has taken 24 players away for a tough two weeks before they fly back to Germany for friendlies against Belarus and Serbia.

Ballack is of course preparing for the Champions League final with Chelsea and is expected to join his team mates at the end of the week.

Joachim Low was in confident mood when talking about his sides prospects, saying, "Why should we settle for second best when the best is possible?"

Germany will of course be amongst the favorites as always this summer and Low is obviously confident that they can seal their first title in 12 years (Euro 96).
