Everton make bid for Barcelona defender
Everton have made a bid of a little over £22m for Barcelona defender Lucas Digne, according to Mirror Football.
Everton have been keeping a close eye on the French left-back and see him as a long-term replacement for the ageing Leighton Baines.
Everton have been looking for a left-back as new boss Marco Silva looks to build his own team.
The Toffees tried to sign Celtic defender Kieran Tierney but have deemed the Scottish giant's asking price of £25m too steep.
Barcelona are reportedly unwilling to sell Digne but he may want to push a move as a lack of first team place cost him a place in France's victorious World Cup squad.
Juventus and Bayern Munich are also eyeing the defender but Everton are the first club to show seriousness by bidding for the player.
Everton have also been linked with a move for Barca's Yerry Mina and Arsenal's Danny Welbeck as the start of the new season continues to draw closer.
The 25-year-old has in the past played for French side Paris Saint-Germain and Italian side AS Roma.
