Veteran defender John Terry reportedly snubbed the opportunity of a fresh one-year contract at Chelsea due to his lack of playing time during the ongoing campaign.

  • The 36-year-old earned a one-year extension last summer and was due to play a significant role in Antonio Conte's first season in English management.

Terry initially owned his position in the Blues' back four as they made a bright start to the Premier League campaign.

However, following his ligament injury in mid-September, the team faced a couple of defeats against Liverpool and Arsenal, and this urged Conte to switch to the three-at-the-back formation.

Since then, the former England international has been an outsider for the starting XI with the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz and Gary Cahill having cemented their positions while Kurt Zouma has been called upon when needed.

According to The Mirror, Terry rejected a possible extension in west London in order to prolong his career at a club where he would be guaranteed regular first-team action.

West Ham United, West Bromwich Albion and Bournemouth are all vying for Terry, who could play for at least two more years at the top level.
