Manchester City prepare for £130 million clearance sale

15 June 2017 - 04:09

Manchester City are set for a busy summer, as they plot big squad improvements in an attempt to compete for the Premier League trophy next season. In order to fund their new signings, the club are looking to raise over £100 million by selling players who are deemed surplus to requirements.

  • Chelsea want to sign Lyon star to replace Jadon Sancho
  • Arsenal want to bring Aymeric Laporte back to England

  • Manchester City have already spent £78 million this summer to secure the signings of Bernardo Silva and Ederson. This is expected to be just the beginning and the Manchester club's spending could reach £300 million by opening day.

Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy are being strongly linked with Pep Guardiola's team and the Spanish manager is said to want a new centre back and a star striker, with Kylian Mbappe and Alexis Sanchez being rumoured targets.

The Manchester Evening News reports today that Manchester City will look to raise up to £130 million by selling players that are not part of Guardiola's firs team plans, instead of loaning them out like last season.

Joe Hart and Kelechi Iheanacho are the two players that City will look to get the most for, with the report suggesting that they both have a £25 million price tag.

Eliaquim Mangala, Samir Nasri and Wilfried Bony are also notable names that will be moved on, as the club looks to not only free up squad places, but reduce the strain on the wage budget too.
