German champions Bayern Munich are reported to be monitoring the performances of Everton and England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford at this summer's World Cup in Russia. The 24-year-old made a £30 million move to Merseyside from relegated Sunderland last summer and is expected by many to be The Three Lions' first choice between the posts in the upcoming tournament.
Long-term Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has struggled with injuries of late and bosses of the German giants are said to be on the lookout for his successor, with the progress of Pickford attracting their attention.
The departure of Pickford from Goodison Park would come as a blow to Everton fans as hope and expectation around the blue half of Merseyside begins to grow again after the appointment of Marco Silva.
Everton spent big last summer under Ronald Koeman, but his team failed to gel effectively and he was replaced shortly after by Sam Allardyce, who himself, has now been dismissed.
In recent years, Joe Hart has made the England number one jersey his own, however, his difficulty in finding any sort of form over the course of last season saw him omitted from the World Cup squad.
That leaves Pickford, along with Jack Butland and Nick Pope, to battle it out for that starting position when England take on Tunisia is their first group stage match on June 18.
At this stage, it is believed that Pickford may currently be edging that race, particularly after being selected in Gareth Southgate's starting eleven for the 2-1 victory over Nigeria at the weekend.
