Predicted Chelsea lineup to face Southampton

Predicted Chelsea lineup (4-3-3) vs Southampton, Morata and Hazard start

01 January 2019 - 21:19

Chelsea have the opportunity to secure a third successive league win when they entertain Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

  • Chelsea eyeing part-exchange deal to sign Osimhen
  • Chelsea & Arsenal handed blow in Bundesliga striker pursuit

  • The Blues are currently holding a two-point advantage over Arsenal in the pursuit of the final Champions League position but they can extend the gap with their game in hand over the Saints.

    Formation: 4-3-3

    Predicted Lineup:

Kepa Arrizabalaga kept his ninth clean sheet of the season during the recent 1-0 win at Crystal Palace. The Spaniard should undoubtedly retain his position between the sticks for the Saints clash.

In the defence, Maurizio Sarri has resisted the chance to rotate his options regularly and the same may remain the case with the fringe players probably featuring in the FA Cup later in the week.

As such, Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso should reclaim their positions on the right and left side of the backline with David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger featuring in the central defensive roles.

Likewise, the midfield may remain identical from the previous matchday with Jorginho and N'Golo Kante pretty much regulars while Mateo Kovacic has been regularly getting the nod ahead of Ross Barkley in recent months.

Further forward, Eden Hazard and Willian will most certainly slot into the right and left wing positions amid the injury crisis which has beckoned while Alvaro Morata should lead the attack with Olivier Giroud sidelined.
