Predicted Chelsea lineup (4-3-3) to face Rennes, Silva and Havertz start

24 November 2020 - 16:53

Chelsea will be aiming to cement their knockout place in the Champions League with a victory at Rennes tonight.

  • Arsenal handed injury boost on defender ahead of Bournemouth clash
  • Chelsea planning shock move for Man City winger?

  • The Blues have already accumulated seven points from three group stage games and they are presently top ahead of Sevilla on goal difference.

    Formation: 4-3-3

    Predicted Lineup:

Edouard Mendy is expected to continue in goal. The Senegal international has kept clean sheets in six of his previous seven appearances across all competitions.

In the backline, a solitary change is expected from the weekend with Thiago Silva taking up the position of Antonio Rudiger at the heart of the defence alongside Kurt Zouma.

N'Golo Kante produced one of his best displays of the season against Newcastle United last weekend and he is set to feature in the lone holding midfield role.

Kai Havertz is available for selection after recovering from the coronavirus and he should feature in the central midfield alongside Mason Mount, who has caught the eye with his impressive workrate.

Further forward, no changes are likely from the 2-0 triumph at St James' Park. Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech should retain their left and right wing positions respectively with Tammy Abraham leading the line.

Predicted Chelsea lineup (4-3-3): Edouard Mendy; Reece James, Kurt Zouma, Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell; N'Golo Kante, Kai Havertz, Mason Mount; Hakim Ziyech, Tammy Abraham, Timo Werner
