Predicted Chelsea lineup (4-2-2-2) vs Burnley, Kante and Werner start

31 January 2021 - 11:20

Chelsea are scheduled to host Burnley in the Premier League this afternoon. The Blues will be eyeing their first victory under manager Thomas Tuchel, who took charge last week.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The German opted for a 3-4-2-1 formation in the recent 0-0 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers, but we are fancying him to revert to his preferred 'double six' setup with N'Golo Kante back in the mix.

    Formation: 4-2-2-2

    Predicted Lineup:

Edouard Mendy has been the Blues' undisputed pick in goal when fit. The Senegal international is expected to start against Sean Dyche's side. He will be eyeing his ninth clean sheet of the campaign.

In the defence, Cesar Azpilicueta and Ben Chilwell should slot into the right and left-back positions respectively. Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger are likely to make up the central defence.

With Kante fit after a hamstring issue, he is expected to start alongside Jorginho in the central midfield. Ahead of them, Kai Havertz and Mason Mount are likely candidates to feature.

Up front, Tammy Abraham and Timo Werner may get the nod. Olivier Giroud did not make much of an impression against Wolves and he will have to settle for a bench role.

Predicted Chelsea lineup (4-2-2-2): Edouard Mendy; Cesar Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, Antonio Rudiger, Ben Chilwell; N'Golo Kante, Jorginho; Mason Mount, Kai Havertz; Timo Werner, Tammy Abraham
