Champions League final: Predicted Chelsea line-up vs Manchester City

Predicted Chelsea line-up (3-4-2-1) vs Manchester City, Werner and Kante start

29 May 2021 - 16:35

Chelsea face off against Manchester City in the Champions League final in Lisbon tonight.

  • Chelsea eyeing part-exchange deal to sign Osimhen
  • Chelsea & Arsenal handed blow in Bundesliga striker pursuit

  • The Blues have beaten the Cityzens twice in as many months, but are still regarded underdogs.

They are aiming to win the elite European competition for the second time in their history.

    Formation: 3-4-2-1

    Predicted Line-up:

Edouard Mendy is fully fit after recovering from a rib injury picked up against Aston Villa. The Senegal international is expected to start between the sticks tonight.

No changes are expected to the backline. Reece James, Thiago Silva, Antonio Rudiger will make up the central defence with Cesar Azpilicueta and Ben Chilwell in the wing-back roles.

Thomas Tuchel has persisted with James at centre-back over Azpilicueta, with the Englishman more equipped to tracking back when the opposition is on the counter-attack.

N'Golo Kante and Jorginho are expected to start in the central midfield roles. Kante has recovered from a hamstring injury, and he has the task of nullifying the threat of Kevin De Bruyne.

Further forward, Mason Mount is a guaranteed starter, and could be accompanied by Kai Havertz. Timo Werner looks set to lead the line for the final, and he needs to find the back of the net.

The German has notched up 12 goals and 15 assists this term, but he has been guilty of missing numerous scoring chances. Tuchel is still expected to trust him ahead of Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham.

Predicted Chelsea XI: Edouard Mendy; Reece James, Thiago Silva, Antonio Rudiger; Cesar Azpilicueta, Jorginho, N'Golo Kante, Ben Chilwell; Mason Mount, Kai Havertz; Timo Werner.
