Tottenham prepare Loic Remy offer

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy and Harry Redknapp are preparing a massive £18m offer for Marseille striker Loic Remy. Spurs are reportedly ready to bring in Remy should Jermain Defoe quit White Hart Lane. Redknapp admitted last week that Remy is a player his club are tracking.

Spurs' striker Jermain Defoe has become increasingly unhappy with a lack of first team football at Tottenham; and at the recommendation of his agent the forward is ready to move elsewhere. It is understood that Defoe wants to guarantee his place on the plane for England's Euro 2012 campaign, and the striker is concerned a lack of first team football could see him left out of the squad.

Emmanuel Adebayor's impressive form so far this year has often left Defoe confined to appearances from off of the substitutes bench, a situation leaving Defoe very unhappy.

Reports suggest that several Premier League clubs are interested in Defoe, with Fulham and Newcastle the most notable.

Should Defoe decide to quit Tottenham, Harry Redknapp will use the money to invest in a new striker, and it appears that Marseille forward Loic Remy is at the top of his shortlist.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is also known to be a big fan of the 25 year old striker - who has 17 caps for France to his name - but Spurs are believed to be winning the race to secure his coveted signature.

Marseille manager Didier Deschamps is desperate to keep Remy at the Stade Velodrome, but with talk of a mega money £18 million offer, the French side would find the bid hard to ignore.

The French club are also desperate to keep Remy at the club until the end of the season as they prepare for the next stage of the Champions League.
