Pardew wary of losing Cabaye late in the summer
Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew, who saw his side roll to a 1-0 win over Fulham tonight, remains wary of losing his star midfielder Yohan Cabaye late in the transfer window.
Pardew admitted that he is prepared to lose Cabaye amidst intense interest from Arsenal and Manchester United but insists he needs to make one 'key signing' this summer. The Magpies have failed to land most of their transfer targets with Loic Remy being the only addition this summer so far.
"We would like to bring one key player in who is going to threaten the first team and maybe we have to watch the Cabaye situiation, that would be someone we have to replace for sure," Pardew told Sky Sports, adding that director of football Joe Kinnear was working hard.
"I think Joe has got the targets in front of him and it is who he gets across the line, it not easy bringing in offensive players as Arsenal and Spurs have proved, it takes a lot of money and we are in the same boat."
