3 Stars Looking to Impress at Euro 2016 to Make a Big Transfer Move

Every player at an international tournament wants to do their best for their country. The pride and passion on show is what makes World Cups and European Championships as good as they are. But sometimes, some players have an extra motivation, because international tournaments can be shop windows for players looking for a summer transfer (or for out of contract players, just looking for a club).

Which players in France are playing for their futures, as well as for their countries? Here are three who could seal a big transfer with performances in Euro 2016.

David Alaba – Austria

The versatile Austria man is entrusted with controlling games from the centre of the park for his country but features at left back for his club side Bayern Munich. He has been heavily linked with a summer move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, and rumour has it that he fancies a central midfield role in club football, too.

Some good displays in the middle for Austria could either help convince Real to stump up the cash for the move, or could raise the eyebrow of new Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti and persuade the Italian to give Alaba the run of the Allianz Arena pitch next year. Either way, if Alaba wants to put his full back days behind him, he needs to impress in France.

N’Golo Kante - France

Last summer, N’Golo Kante arrived in the Premier League as a virtual unknown, having signed for a Leicester City side many saw as relegation fodder. Fast forward to this summer and the picture is very different. Kante was a key part of Leicester’s title triumph and has gone from uncapped (and unsure whether to declare for France or Mali) to being a key man in France’s best XI.

Rumours abound that Kante may soon return to his homeland with PSG set to launch a big money bid that Leicester will find hard to resist, having signed the diminutive midfielder for a bargain £5.6m from Cannes. Impressive performances in France’s star-studded midfield could see him eclipse even Paul Pogba, and give Leicester a difficult decision to make once the tournament is over.

Arkadiusz Milik - Poland

Arkadiusz Milik is in the shadow of his more illustrious team mate Robert Lewandowski, both literally and figuratively. For Poland, Milik plays in a withdrawn second striker role behind the Bayern talisman, but he’s the main man up front for club side Ajax. He plundered 21 goals in the Eredivisie last season, and will plan to add to that at the Euros with a Poland side who were free scoring in qualifying.

He started well, with the winner in Poland’s opener against Northern Ireland, and if he continues in that vein he could follow in the footsteps of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Luis Suarez by sealing a big move away from the Ajax finishing school to a major European giant.
