Schalke boss admits Sané wants Man City move
Manchester City could soon be set to seal a swoop for Schalke 04 winger Leroy Sané after the player has expressed his desire to leave the German club, according to reports.
The Mirror is reporting today that new Schalke general manager Christian Heidel has admitted that Sané has told the club he wants to leave this summer.
City are yet to agree a fee for the 20-year-old, with the Gelsenkirchen club said to be holding out for around £42 million.
New City manager Pep Guardiola is known to be keen to add Sané to his squad, after the youngster had a breakout Bundesliga campaign during 2015-16, becoming a key player for Schalke despite his tender years.
Sané's performances also earned him a call up to Joachim Lowe's Germany squad for the UEFA European Championship in France, although Sané's only appearance at the tournament was as a late substitue during his side's semi-final defeat against the home nation.
Guardiola has already bolstered the squad he inherited from Manuel Pellegrini by signing Ilkay Gundogan, Alexandr Zinchenko and Nolito.
In addition to their pursuit of Sané, City are also looking to add a central defender during the transer window, with Everton's John Stones and Juventus' Leonardo Bonucci thought to be top of Guardiola's wish list.
Both defenders would likely command a fee in excess of £50 million.
