West Ham eye Calum Chambers loan
West Ham United are expected to pursue a loan deal for Arsenal defender Calum Chambers. The England international is unlikely to earn regular playing time at the Emirates this season.
Chambers, 21, is free to leave the Gunners on a temporary basis this summer with manager Arsene Wenger eager to offer first-team football to his centre-half.
According to The Express, the Hammers will table a loan contract for the youngster with the Gunners nearing the signing of Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia.
Mustafi has already passed a medical with the North London outfit, and his move will to be confirmed in the next 24 hours.
The German international is likely to accompany Laurent Koscielny in the heart of the defence, with Rob Holding acting as back-up and this leaves Chambers out of contention.
Slaven Bilic's side have had a good contact with the Gunners having loaned Carl Jenkinson in recent seasons, and this could well put them in the front-seat to land Chambers this month.
Chambers is equally adept at playing at centre-back and right-back, and this has recently captured interest from newcomers Hull City and Middlesbrough.
