La Liga title battle continues

Real Madrid and Barcelona both won again on Saturday

As the end of the La Liga season approaches, there is still nothing to separate Barcelona and Real Madrid at the top of the table, with both teams winning yet again on Saturday, to keep them tied on eighty four points.

Barcelona hosted Villarreal at the Nou Camp, knowing that having played one more game than their bitter rivals Real Madrid, they had to keep winning to put pressure of them during that extra game.

They took the lead when Neymar finished off a great team move, but they were pegged back ten minutes later when Cedric Bakambu showed Gerard Pique a clean set of heels. Normal order was resumed before half time however, when Lionel Messi scored from twenty yards.

Barcelona secured victory in the second half with two more goals. First, Luis Suarez assured that the whole "MSN" strike force got on the score sheet, before Messi added a fourth from the penalty spot.

The equation is simple for Real Madrid, win their remaining games and they will lift the La Liga trophy. They made nine changes for their trip to Granada, but any doubts about Zinedine Zidane's team selection were proven wrong, when James Rodriguez gave them the lead after just three minutes. Rodriguez scored again eight minutes later, which will only strengthen the interest that Premier League teams are showing in him.

Another player that Premier League teams are scouting is Alvaro Morata, who also scored a brace for Real Madrid before half time, giving them a 4-0 win and another crucial three points.

Both teams are now level on eighty four points at the top of La Liga, with Barcelona having two more games to play and Real Madrid three. The team from the Bernabeu have the advantage, but one slip up could cost them the title.
