Chelsea bid €60 million for Juventus left-back Alex Sandro

Alex Sandro has generated interest from Chelsea

Antonio Conte has reportedly launched a bid of €60 million to bring Juventus left-back Alex Sandro to Stamford Bridge next season.

According to Football Italia, Juventus have received a bid of €60 million from Chelsea for left-back Alex Sandro. Conte has given up on signing Dani Alves after as he feels the 35-year-old's age will serve as a short-term solution rather than a long-term one.

The report by Football Italia also stated that Chelsea made an initial bid of €50 million but Juventus immediately turned it down.

Alex Sandro has been a breakout star for Juventus this season, ousting regular Stephan Lichtsteiner from the starting eleven in the process. The Brazilian recorded three goals and seven assists in 42 games as Juventus won the domestic double and reached the final of the Champions League.

Chelsea will likely find it hard to sign Sandro as Juventus have shown that they want to retain the same squad for next season after extending manager Massimiliano Allegri's contract, permanently purchasing Juan Cuadrado and Mehdi Benatia, and successfully retaining the services of Paulo Dybala.

Conte's desperation to bring Sandro is definitely a response to Leonardo Bonucci ruling out a move to the Blues. The Chelsea manager will want to shore up his defence, with Victor Moses looking to be the weak link in an otherwise impeccable backline.
