Manchester United have reportedly hijacked Chelsea's move for Lukaku and lodged a bid of £75 million which was accepted by Everton.

BBC sensationally broke the news that Lukaku will be headed to Old Trafford after Everton accepted a £75 million bid from United.

Despite Rooney's proposed move to Everton also gaining traction, the Lukaku deal has nothing to do with the Manchester United captain and he is still expected to complete a move back to his boyhood club by the end of this week.

The news also confirmed that United will be ending their interest in Alvaro Morata, which is extremely puzzling given strong reports claiming his arrival was about to be confirmed by the clubs themselves.

Furthermore, the departures of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney leaves United with very little options upfront. United were expected to bring in at least two forwards as replacements and to share the workload with Marcus Rashford

Lukaku's move to United could be down to Chelsea's difficulty in selling Diego Costa. The Spaniard's potential move to China fell through as Chinese clubs are now required to pay a 100 percent tax on any foreign player they buy. His only other preferred club, Atletico Madrid, are in the midst of a transfer ban which runs until January 2018.

Also, Lukaku's agent, Mino Raiola, also represents Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. All three of them made the move to United last summer which illustrates the good relationship the club has with Raiola.
