United reject Spurs' bid for Martial

Manchester United have reportedly snubbed an approach from Tottenham Hotspur to sign young forward Anthony Martial.

The 21-year-old was largely used as a substitute during United's pre-season tour, but he still remains an integral part of Jose Mourinho's setup.

According to RMC Sport, Spurs had lodged an attempt to pursue the former Monaco attacker, but the Red Devils were quick to knock back their advances.

Martial remained on the substitutes' bench during his club's 2-1 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid in the European Super Cup, but he is prepared to fight for his position in the starting lineup.

The France international has not quite lived to his early career hype, but it could be mostly due to his restricted playing time with Mourinho offering him just 19 starts in the top-flight last season.

United have made three signings in Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic during the summer transfer window while Spurs have signed no players whatsoever with Mauricio Pochettino showing confidence in his current squad.

Martial has notched 25 goals across all competitions for the Europa League holders since arriving as a teenager from AS Monaco in the summer of 2015.
