Tottenham to hijack Chelsea move for Llorente
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has thrown a spanner in the works for Chelsea's impending move for Swansea City striker Fernando Llorente, having made a significantly larger offer than the Blues for the striker. Llorente wants to leave the Swans and play Champions League football.
The Blues had hoped to bring in Llorente before the transfer window closes as an alternative to Alvaro Morata and had agreed to a fee with Swansea City. However, Tottenham have now made a new offer of around £4 million for the Spain international and have now told Chelsea that they do not want to sell Llorente to the Stamford Bridge side.
According to reports this morning, Llorente will be offered regular first-team football and could even play alongside Harry Kane in a new look Tottenham line-up.
Llorente has been a revelation since his transfer move from Juventus to the Welsh club and has two years remaining on his contract. However, he is desperate for European football and will finalise a transfer before the transfer window closes at 11pm this evening.
