Arsene Wenger: David Luiz deserved his sending off

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that referee Michael Oliver was right to send off Chelsea's David Luiz during Sunday's Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.
The Brazil international was shown a straight red in the dying stages of the London derby after he jumped recklessly into a challenge on Arsenal defender Sead Kolasinac.
While the Blues may argue that Alexis Sanchez had fouled Luiz prior to the incident, Wenger believes that the right decision was made as the Brazilian used excessive force in performing the tackle.
"It was excessive force, yes. I think Kolasinac was not completely on his feet. Even Luiz will accept there was a big distance and he went in too strong," he told reporters, as per Goal.com.
As a result, Luiz will miss the Blues' next three domestic games including the key Premier League clash against Manchester City at the end of the month.
Blues manager Antonio Conte will nevertheless be confident of filling the void with both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen having impressed in their central defensive roles this term.
Arsenal will take on Doncaster Rovers in the third round of the League Cup on Wednesday night whilst Chelsea entertain Nottingham Forest.
