Arsenal receive boost after Everton decide to drop Olivier Giroud interest
Everton have reportedly opted against making a fresh move for Arsenal's Olivier Giroud in January, and will instead pursue a new marksman elsewhere.
The France international has been a top priority for the Toffees during the summer transfer window after selling Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United for a reported fee of £75m.
Since then, the Toffees have had little luck in front of goal, and this sees them lying just above the drop zone after seven games into the Premier League season.
Under-fire coach Ronald Koeman admitted last week that the club were close to signing Olivier Giroud, but according to The Star, the Dutchman will seek to secure other targets in the New Year.
Among those linked are West Ham United's Andy Carroll and Atletico Madrid's Kevin Gameiro - both of whom have had limited playing time due to respective reasons.
Carroll has struggled with several injuries over the past few years whilst Gameiro can't find himself a regular role ahead of the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Fernando Torres and Angel Correa in the pecking order.
