Steven Gerrard gives advice to Chelsea following Manchester City loss
Liverpool legend-turned-pundit Steven Gerrard has urged Chelsea to be more positive at Stamford Bridge following their 1-0 loss to Manchester City over the weekend. The Blues were truly outclassed by Pep Guardiola's side on Saturday evening with former player Kevin de Bruyne bagging the winner.
Speaking on BT Sport, Gerrard feels the Blues are still good enough to challenge for the English crown, although they need to start from the blocks in a quicker fashion at home, he said: "Chelsea are still good enough.“They have a fantastic squad and can bounce back from this. But I think the message going forward is that when you’re at home and whoever you’re playing against, come out firing and start well. Believe in what you’ve got and see what comes from that."
As a result, the Blues are positioned fourth in the Premier League standings with 13 points, six adrift of leaders Manchester City. The west London giants will face bottom club Crystal Palace in their next outing after the international break, and they will be looking to get back to winning ways in order to keep tabs with their league competitors.
Alvaro Morata sustained a hamstring injury during the weekend defeat to the Citizens, but he is likely to return to full fitness prior to the Palace game in a fortnight's time.
