Antonio Conte angry over Chelsea's derisory offer for Fernando Llorente
Antonio Conte is not pleased by Chelsea's botched attempt to sign Fernando Llorente during the summer transfer window. The Spain international had been seen as a potential backup option to Alvaro Morata, but the deal did not materialise with Llorente moving to Tottenham Hotspur instead.
Morata, 24, has been a huge hit during his early Blues career with seven goals across all competitions, but he is now facing time on the sidelines with a hamstring injury sustained in the 1-0 loss to Manchester City last month.
According to The Times, the Italian head coach is frustrated with the club's hierarchy after they made an offer of just £5m to sign Llorente in the summer.
The Blues were reluctant to pay a significant fee for the striker due to his low sell-on value, and this eventually played into the hands of Tottenham, who spent £11.5m to pursue the Spaniard from Swansea City.
With not much time left in the transfer window, Chelsea struggled to find another target to bolster their frontline, and this has left them with just one fit striker in Michy Batshuayi in their ranks.
