Arsenal to move for former Chelsea defender?
Arsenal are reportedly looking into a move for Brazilian defender Filipe Luis whose contract with Atletico Madrid is due to expire at the end of the season.
Luis had come close to joining Paris Saint-Germain during the recent transfer window but ultimately, the French champions decided to sign Juan Bernat from Bayern Munich instead.
According to KickOff, Unai Emery's side are now prepared to make an approach for Luis in the New Year as they seek to take advantage of his contract situation.
Emery has utilised the likes of Nacho Monreal, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Sead Kolasinac in the left-back role since pre-season and he is nevertheless said to be eyeing another recruit to build up competition.
Luis has yet to agree upon a new contract with the Europa League holders and as things stand, Atleti are likely to cash in on his services when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
The Brazilian previously spent a single campaign with Chelsea in the Premier League between 2014 and 2015 where he went on to win the title. He made 26 appearances for the Blues during his solitary season.
