Predicted Liverpool lineup to face Barcelona

Liverpool make the trip to the Camp Nou for the opening leg of their Champions League semi-final against Barcelona on Wednesday night.

Jurgen Klopp's side have reached the last four of the competition for the second-straight season, and they have the opportunity to progress to the Madrid final, should they get the better of the Blaugrana across two legs.

Formation: 4-3-3

Predicted Lineup:

Alisson has been the disputed choice between the sticks and he is certain to feature against the Blaugrana. The Brazilian will be eyeing his maiden clean sheet on the road this term.

In the defence, Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk are expected to feature at the heart of the backline but we are anticipating a change in the full-back spots. Joe Gomez, who is a more defensive right-back could feature ahead of Trent Alexander-Arnold with Andrew Robertson on the opposite end.

In the midfield, Jurgen Klopp is likely to go with a more defensive-minded formation. We are anticipating Jordan Henderson to slot in to the holding role with Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum accompanying him in the centre of the park. Fabinho missed the recent game against Huddersfield Town with a head injury, but he has been deemed fit for the tie.

In the attack front, Klopp should have the best options at his disposal. Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are expected to feature on the right and left side of the attack with Roberto Firmino leading the line. Firmino has recently suffered a minor muscular tear but he is likely to feature from the off, provided he comes through unscathed in the training session.
