Jose Mourinho praises 'genius' moment from Arsenal star
Former Manchester United and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has praised the finishing skills of Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang during the Premier League opener against Newcastle United.
The Gabon international was the club's highest goalscorer with 31 goals in all competitions last term and he opened his tally for the current campaign with the winner in the 1-0 triumph at St James Park.
The Gunners struggled to test the Magpies goalkeeper during the course of the game but Aubameyang managed to make the difference after getting on the right end of Ainsley Maitland-Niles' defence-splitting assist.
The 30-year-old striker initially controlled the ball in the air at the first attempt before finding the net with simplicity after a lovely dink over the charging Martin Dubravka.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Mourinho hailed the goal scored from the former Borussia Dortmund man and highlighted that there is nothing simple with the control in the lead-up to the strike.
"He’s cool, he loves to be there and of course, what I love to say, simplicity sometimes is genius. That control looks simple but it’s not simple, it’s genius. Then the finishing is beautiful," he said.
