Arsenal boss reacts after 3-1 defeat to Liverpool
Arsenal boss Unai Emery has said that he can be optimistic for the season despite the club's 3-1 Premier League defeat at the hands of Liverpool on Saturday.
The north London side offered a good challenge to the Reds during the opening half of the encounter but Jurgen Klopp's side took the lead through Joel Matip right before the break.
In the second half, the Reds pretty much ended the game with two more goals before the hour mark and there was only a late consolation strike for the Gunners through Lucas Torreira.
Speaking after the clash, Emery said that the result was disappointing on the day but he can take positives from the performances of some players during the contest.
"Yes we are disappointed we lost 3-1 but watching some players we can be optimistic. We need to improve in possession and countering the pressure but Liverpool is the best team with this," he told Sky Sports.
Nicolas Pepe was able to find himself in a number of promising goalscoring positions in the first period but he was poor with his finishing which eventually cost the side.
Despite the defeat, the Gunners are still temporarily second on the table after the third gameweek of the season. They are scheduled to host north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium next weekend.
