Chelsea star open to signing a fresh contract
French striker Olivier Giroud is reportedly open to signing a new contract with the Blues after his change in fortunes during the backend of the season.
Giroud hardly played in the Premier League until the winter break and it seemed that he could leave on a free when his contract expires in the summer.
However, the untimely ankle injury for Tammy Abraham has helped Giroud re-establish his position in the starting XI ahead of Michy Batshuayi, who has simply failed to impress.
According to The Mail, the striker is pleased with the regular minutes in the Premier League and he is now open to the prospect of signing a new deal with the Blues.
Giroud was worried about the prospect of missing out on a Euro 2020 spot with France earlier this year and that concern has been eased with the consistent run of games of late.
The former Arsenal man has scored twice for the Blues following the winter break. One of those came during the 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
