Chelsea enter race to sign German striker
Chelsea have reportedly joined Liverpool in the race to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig during the summer transfer window.
The German has been in excellent form for the Bundesliga outfit this term and he has amassed 27 goals and 12 assists from just 36 outings.
A recent report from Bleacher Report said that Werner is 'very likely' to leave Leipzig during the summer and he would prefer to sign for Jurgen Klopp's side.
However, the Blues are understood to have made contact with the player's representative with the aim of luring the 24-year-old to Stamford Bridge, Kicker claims.
Werner may not have the assurance of a regular starting spot with the Reds, given Klopp is expected to continue with Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in the frontline.
That may not be the case with Frank Lampard's side, who are eyeing a new striker to lead the line. Both Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi could head through the exit door this summer.
Tammy Abraham has been the regular choice upfront for the Blues this season but Werner has a good chance of claiming the position with his greater experience and finishing qualities.
