Tottenham Hotspur planning fresh move for Chelsea striker
Tottenham Hotspur are planning a renewed attempt to sign Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud this summer, a report from The Star claims.
The Frenchman was linked with a move to the north London side in January but he eventually remained with the Blues, who were reluctant to offload him without a replacement.
The Blues have since extended Giroud's contract until June 2021, but he has still been fancied to leave the club with Timo Werner's arrival expected to push him down the pecking order.
According to The Star, Spurs are preparing a fresh move for the former Arsenal man with manager Jose Mourinho keen on adding a quality option to provide the back-up to Harry Kane.
However, the capital outfit are not alone in the player's pursuit and they are likely to face competition from the likes of Inter Milan, Lazio, West Ham United and Crystal Palace.
It has been previously claimed that Giroud would prefer to remain in the English capital and it remains to be seen whether he would be content with a back-up role at Spurs when he has the opportunity to start at West Ham or Palace.
Chelsea are likely to demand a fee of around £7m for his sale.
