Arsenal considering swoop for experienced PSG star

Arsenal are reportedly one of the clubs in the running to sign Thiago Silva on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain during the summer.

Silva has been with Les Parisiens for the past eight years but the club seem unlikely to extend his contract beyond the end of their Champions League League campaign in August.

As a result, he is expected to become a free-agent in a few months' time and 90min claims that the Gunners could compete with the likes of Everton, Newcastle United, West Ham United, Wolverhampton Wanderers for his services.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is on the look out for defensive additions to the squad this summer and Silva remains a lucrative option for the club despite him approaching his 36th birthday. 

The north London side could face stiff competition from the Toffees, in particular, considering Silva has a good relationship with manager Carlo Ancelotti from their days working together at AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.
