Barcelona looking to sign Arsenal defender?
Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has emerged as a potential option for Barcelona when the transfer window reopens in January.
The German has fallen down the selection order this term and he has played only 44 minutes of league football since his return from a hamstring injury.
The likes of Gabriel Magalhaes, Rob Holding, Kieran Tierney and David Luiz are ahead of him in the pecking order for the central defensive positions and it appears that he could leave the club in the near future.
Mustafi will enter the final six months of his contract at the turn of the year and Diario Sport claims that Ronald Koeman has him in his shortlist for the winter transfer window.
He is, however, not the first-choice target for the Blaugrana boss. The club will only make an attempt to sign him, suppose they are unable to land either Eric Garcia or Antonio Rudiger.
Mustafi was excluded from the matchday squad for the Gunners' 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa before the international break. The same could be the case during this weekend's visit to Elland Road to face Leeds United.
