Chelsea struggling to shift five unwanted players

Chelsea are reportedly struggling to find buyers for five out-of-favour players ahead of next month's transfer window.

The Blues spent more than £220m on seven signings in the summer and they are now keen to recoup some funds by offloading unwanted players.

According to The Express, the west London side want to part ways with Kepa Arrizabalaga, Marcos Alonso, Andreas Christensen, Danny Drinkwater and Baba Rahman at the turn of the year.

However, they have struggled to receive any suitable transfer offers for the quintet with many clubs still facing financial issues amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Arrizabalaga, Alonso and Christensen have played some part this term, but Drinkwater and Rahman are clearly out of contention and are not anywhere near the plans of Frank Lampard.

The Blues are looking into a possible January deal for Declan Rice, but that may largely depend on whether they can accumulate sufficient funds from player sales. That seems unlikely at the moment.
